There is always the question of what to get the husband/brother/friend/ who has just graduated med school and starting residency. I am 2 years late but have found the perfect gift for my husband. With student loans piled up and making hardly any money in residency this gift is a necessity and cheap!
I give you the sleep mask! It took me all of 20 minutes to whip up. I think picking out the fabric took the longest. I have barely any manly fabric in my stash with 3 girls in the house.
(Yes, the picture is horrible but this post has been waiting for a picture for months now. I don't think I will ever get one of the man wearing it but he does wear it, as cheesy as it is. I kinda want one now. Instead, I sleep with a pillow over my head. I may suffocate someday but at least it will be dark and quiet when I do.)
Pair this with a set of ear plugs and your resident will be so happy to have a dark and quiet place to sleep anywhere in the house. I put flannel on the back of my mask to make it nice and soft. I would have used fleece for extra softness but I didn't have any on hand.
And to make this even easier to make here is a free pattern and here is a great tutorial.
