Corduroy is starting preschool this year and when I asked her if she wanted to go shopping for new clothes (I am trying to get her excited), she said, "I want to go to Joann's and buy fabric to make clothes". OK, I can do that! So yesterday we cut out the fabric and got to work while the little sister was asleep. I am trying to use patterns again to freshen up on my skills. Someday I want to start teaching sewing classes out of my home and while I now how to do all the sewing stuff, it was my degree, I usually just lay fabric out on the floor and then cut. It is way easier and faster than using a pattern. But if I am going to teach, I need to freshen up. Finishing this made me remember another reason for not liking patterns all that much. Looking at the picture and putting this on my daughter were like looking at a dress(pattern) and a shirt(Cordy). The dress ended up super short! and it barely covers her upper area. Still cute, but will definitely need a shirt and leggings under it. I guess I will have to go shopping. Dang it! I wonder if they have pattern critiques online that I can look into before I buy....
Other than that I love it! I think it turned out really cute and Corduroy can't wait to wear it.
