CUW Boutique

Fairy Skirts

We got Disneyland passes this year thanks to wonderful grandparents and have been going a lot! Corduroy is always jealous of the other girls wearing their princess dresses there. Since I am too cheap to buy a princess dress for $100 or whatever crazy amount they cost I found some scraps around the house and made some skirts and matching shirts. Of course I thought of this brilliant idea at night so I was up late making them. I grabbed their stained white shirts and covered up the stains with a fairy applique. On the skirts I sewed my grandmas old ruffle trim around the bottom and then added the sheer fabric underneath to make them poof out more girly like. And of course they had to match. Corduroy LOVES matching Ady even though I am not a huge fan. That is just way too cute for me but it makes her happy....

Pear Skirts

My serger is finally working and so I am going to be adding lots more cute girly clothes to the shop! I am so excited for the new line! Here is the first skirt. I love the ball fringe at the bottom. As soon as I make sure the fringe goes through the wash just fine I will be adding it to my etsy shop. I am not a fan of hand wash so it it can't be thrown in the machine I try not to sell it. (except for my bibs, sorry)

Flower Set

I made the skirt a little different on this flower set. I used elastic thread for the waistband instead of elastic. That stuff is awesome! You just sew with the elastic thread and it stretches. It didn't stretch as much as I would have liked but it works. No more threading a band of elastic through skirts anymore. And the finish is so much cuter for the top of a skirt. And aren't the shoes the cutest? I got the tutorial here .

Flower Onesie with Matching Skirt

This is another shower gift for a friend. I got bored of making appliques and branched out to a flower onesie and skirt. The flower is just tacked on with a coconut button. It will totally fray but I love that aspect of it. The skirt has a blind hem stitch which I am new at but it turned out pretty well considering it was my first try.

My pictures are not the best lately. All these gifts seem to end up getting finished right before a shower and then the lighting isn't the best and the kids are jumping on the sheet where I take the pictures making wrinkles. That is the life of the stay at home mom trying to work from home I guess.

Bird Skirt

This is a project I have been wanting to do for awhile. I finally got everything out and had Corduroy help me. My machine can be used without a foot pedal. You just hit a button and it starts sewing. Corduroy was able to do most of the sewing this way. She is getting pretty good at sewing. She can almost do most of the threading on her own as well. And she loves speeding up the speed of the sewing to where it is out of control and I have to yell at her to slow it down. Good times. I may be adding skirts to my line soon. What do you think? Any takers?
Never mind Ady's Skirt. It is a little too long but I made it when she was asleep so I think I did a pretty good job at guessing. I knew if I didn't make it while she was asleep it would never get done.

Fairy Skirts

I can make these for a baby, toddler or older child. They are made with an elastic waistband which makes it very easy for a smaller child to put on by themselves. The colors in the skirts shown are pink, green and yellow.
